Course Name: iBase
Duration: 5 days
Prerequisites: It is recommended that delegates have completed AN001 (Analyst’s Notebook Course) prior to attending the course.
This course is developed for those who will be using, creating, and administering/maintaining iBase databases. The course structure encompasses a User component first followed by a Designer and Administration/Maintenance component.
The User component includes (but is not limited to) learning how to:
- Find, edit, create and delete entity and link records in iBase via iBase and/or through the Analyst’s Notebook interface.
- Use labeling schemes to display information.
- Use the Find dialog, Queries, Browse, Sets, Word Search and Scored Matching functions to find records and analyse/visualise the results in iBase and/or Analyst’s Notebook using different methods.
- Import and/or export data using the iBase wizards.
- Use Charting Schemes and the Timeline Assistant to chart iBase records in Analyst’s Notebook to create timeline charts.
- Use Mapping configurations to map iBase records in selected mapping applications for geo-spatial analysis.
- Create and run iBase reports.
The Designer component includes (but is not limited to):
- Learning the process of designing and implementing a database (including the consultation process and planning phase).
- Creating a database design model and plan.
- Creating a database security file and a database file and assigning security groups and restricted access control privileges to the iBase users.
- Creating entity types and link types and adding fields to the entities and links and testing the database functionality in user mode.
- Importing and exporting code lists, synonyms lists, exclusion lists from other databases.
- Creating customised datasheets.
- Creating and maintaining the Word Index Synonyms list and Excluded Words list and incrementing the index.
- Creating and using database templates.
- Creating database design reports.
The Administration/Maintenance component includes (but is not limited to) learning how to:
- Maintain database integrity of the records.
- Use the iBase Scheduler Configuration to perform scheduled batch imports/exports.
- Use the Audit Viewer to audit actions performed by the database users in regards to the record manipulation and security access.
- Ensure the database is compacted to run more efficiently.
