Can I try before I buy? Most i2 and Visual Analysis tools can be evaluated by users, to determine if the product meets your functional needs and will operate within your current environment. Please email sales visualanalysis.com or call our Sydney office on +61 (2) 9528 4811 to discuss your requirements. |
What is a dongle? A dongle is a hardware security device that works in conjunction with Licence Managing software to allocate available i2 licences to users. Dongles are manufactured by Aladdin and are a third party tool used by i2. Dongles are available in two configurations, Hardlock (black) dongles that are plugged in to a user's computer and Nethasp (red) dongles that are generally plugged in to a server to broadcast licences throughout a computer network. Dongles come in two styles, USB for USB ports and Parallel for Parallel ports (larger style printer ports). |
Where do I find the dongle number? The dongle number is physically printed on a metal seal attached to parallel dongles and is attached to a key ring on USB dongles. It is often easier to determine a dongle number by entering the Help, About screen of the relevant i2 application. |
What happens if I lose my dongle? Current i2 policy requires that a 'lost' dongle can only be replaced, by paying the purchase price for that licence, again. |
My dongle is broken what do I do? Fill out a support request, and one of our support staff will contact you to ascertain more detail and then arrange for a replacement. |
What is a "dongle diagnose"? Dongle Diagnose is an application that you can download, and is also available on all i2 installation CD ROM's. This tool enables you to read the software products licenced and quantities available for the dongle being diagnosed. |
What is a nethasp? A NetHASP is a hardware device that in conjunction with licencing software allows networked users to share i2 licences. |

What is SMUP? SMUP is an acronym for Support, Maintenance and Upgrades. SMUP is charged at 15% of the licence cost for i2 tools and 20% of the licence cost for TAPS. Users on SMUP receive all product updates, User Group Newsletters and have access to our telephone, fax, internet and email support services. |
Why should I pay SMUP? When you pay SMUP you can be confident that you are using the very latest i2 and Visual Analysis tools. Regular enhancements are released throughout the year that provide powerful new user functionality which often benefits more than one application. SMUP also entitles you to use our Help Desk where an experienced user is able to assist you with your use of the tools. |
I haven't received an upgrade what should I do? Please contact our Sydney office on +61 (2) 9528 4811 and quote your dongle number and agency details and we will check your SMUP status and determine if there are any upgrades that you are eligible for. |
What does VA Support provide? VA Support provides specialist advice through our website, and via telephone and email to help you get the most from your investment in i2 and Visual Analysis technology. |
I can't get support assistance, why? In some instances it is possible that your organisation may not have a current SMUP agreement with Visual Analysis, this may mean you are not entitled to use our support services. |
TAPS won't process my CCR, what should I do? If you are a new user and have not used this service before, please contact support on 08 9496 2700 or email the support desk. |
What is a users forum? We have created a Visual Analysis Users Forum to provide a place for i2 and Visual Analysis product users to swap ideas and benefit from an exchange of tips and tricks, pose questions, and share knowledge of various subject threads. Visual Analysis staff will monitor the forum and post regular "How to" guides to help you get the most from our software. Users are also encouraged to post their own hints! |
Do I need a dongle number to register with the VA forum? No, a dongle number is not required, however you may be requested to provide a dongle number to assist in establishing your bona fides should it be required. |
Why do I have to register to use the forum? The User Forum is a closed forum. This requires each user to register certain details before they are able to read, post or reply, to forum threads. Visual Analysis has taken this stance to provide an environment for the free exchange of information on the various threads. By regulating and validating each user, users are more able to openly discuss methodologies and examples. Visual Analysis staff provides thread moderation and reserve the right to remove content, deemed inappropriate or unsuitable (see sticky on each thread for user guidelines). |
Who can use the forum? The Forum is open to all i2 product users and Visual Analysis customers. |
What should I post on the forum? The floor is yours… questions, answers, tips, successes, examples, etc. |
